My Story

Hello! I’m Shawn, the owner of Supra Modern. Originally from the United States, I spent many years as a touring musician before turning a lifelong interest in mid-century design and furniture into what I do today.
I’ve been restoring mid-century furniture for over 10 years and have worked with several of Sydney’s leading mid-century furniture dealers, giving me extensive hands-on experience restoring pieces from some of the most iconic names and periods in modern design.
But long before I restored furniture professionally, I was a collector. That’s still a big part of how I approach my work today. I treat every piece that comes through my workshop as if it were going into my own home.
For me, restoration isn’t about making an old piece look brand new. It’s about understanding what made it special in the first place—preserving its character, respecting the original design and craftsmanship, and bringing it back to a condition where it can be used and appreciated for decades to come.
At Supra Modern, I source, restore and sell carefully selected mid-century furniture, as well as offering restoration services for clients who have pieces of their own that deserve a new lease on life.
